Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football and community service. His first family is that Selmon is the eldest of nine kids who were raised by Eufala with Lucious Selmon. Second football he was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-America. One year 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. In the three years that Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him an Scholar-Athlete for the 3rd time in the year 1975. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work in his college days. After college, he moved into Tampa and played for nine years with Tampa's Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro for three occasions. After that, he began his professional career. He began his career in 1988. began working as an Account Relation Manager at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him in 1982 as being one of the top 10 youths from the United States. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He coached his university team in 1975. In 1993, Roy was a part of the university of south Florida's athletic department as Director of Athletics as an associate. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame through the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
