Taylor

Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop culture: she was the sole celebrity who crossed from country into the mainstream, and to become a pop icon worldwide. Swift removed her roots in the country like they were a second skin revealing that she was perhaps the savviest popular singer/songwriter in her generation one who could harness the zeitgeist make it personal and also perform in the opposite direction. Her talents were apparent in some of her first tracks, including the Neodue Tim McGraw. But on the second album Fearless which came out in 2008, Swift discovered her true identity and gain a wide audience. Fearless became a big hit not only in the US which is where its Top Ten singles Love Story, and You Belong with Me helped it to break six platinum records as well as around the globe. It performed particularly well across Canada, Australia and the U.K. Speak Now delivered almost two years later and consolidated this popularity and pushed Swift to the heights of stardom. The next three albums she released, Red (2012) 1989 (2004) and Reputation (2017), her popularity increased and she found herself in the world of pop music with a clear sense of where she was a part of. Although she slowed down her production with folklore, and Evermore released in 2020, she was nevertheless in the forefront of pop music.
