Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946 into a very humble family of 12 children eventually included, discovered early that she could get away from suffering through her vivid imagination. Before she learned to write or read, she began to compose the songs she wrote herself. After 8 years of age, she got her first guitar. When she was 11 years old she started singing at Knoxville Tenn's local radio station. Gold Band Records is a tiny, independent label. Even though she was still at school, she already made a name of herself on the local scene. Her goal was to be able to perform at a much greater scale. On the 14th of March, 1964, that followed her graduation from high school her family moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner began looking for new female vocalists for his television show that was syndicated around the exact time. Parton became a member of Grand Ole Opry 1969 after contracting to RCA Records. In 1974, she resigned from Wagoner's show due to the commercial success of her own songs such as Joshua Coats of Many Colors or Jolene was way ahead of their joint release. Parton recorded I Will Always love You to Wagoner following their split. It reached number one. It was the first time a single was able to reach No.
