Taylor Swift
Taylor Alison Swift (born 13 December 1989) is an American musician and singer. Her discography covers a variety of genres. Her songwriting - often inspired by her personal life--has received critical praise and wide media attention. Swift was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania and moved to Nashville when she was 14 years old. Swift signed a songwriting contract with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, in 2004, and an agreement to record with Big Machine Records, in 2005. The self-titled debut album she released in 2006 made her the first female country singer to write an U.S. platinum-certified album. Swift's subsequent albums, Fearless (2008) and Speak Now (2010), focused on country pop. The songs "Love Story" and "You Belong with me" from the former were the first to be topped the U.S. all-genre and pop charts. Red (2012) included her first Billboard Hot 100 song number one, "We Are Never Ever Going Back Together". She discarded her country image and released 1989 (2014) which was a synth-pop album that included the chart-topping tracks "Shake It off", "Blank Space" and "Bad Blood". The skepticism of the media inspired her album Reputation (2017) as well as the album's number one single "Look What You Made Me Do".
After leaving Big Machine, Swift signed with Republic Records in 2018 and released her seventh studio album, Lover (2019), followed by the autobiographical film Miss Americana (2020). Swift's albums for 2020 Folklore (2019) and Evermore (2020) were her first forays into indie and alternative rock. "Cardigan" was a top-ten hit, while "Willow" was an album that ranked in the Top 100. Swift began rerecording her first six albums to resolve an issue with their masters. Swift released two albums in 2021: Fearless (Taylor’s Edition) and Red. The longest-running track on the Hot 100 was "All Too Well (10 Minute version)". Her 2022 album Midnights along with its single "Anti-Hero" have set new all-time streaming music records. Swift has also directed music videos as well films like All Too Well The Short Film (2021), as well as playing roles in a variety of other projects. Swift is of the top-selling artists ever. She has sold over 200 million copies worldwide. She is the most streamed artist on Spotify and has five albums open that have more than one-million copies sold in the United States. Twelve Grammy Awards including three Album of the Year nominations; an Emmy Award, 40 American Music Awards; 29 Billboard Music Awards. 92 Guinness World Records are just among her numerous awards. Swift was featured in Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers of All Time, Billboard’s Greatest of All Time Artists and Forbes Celebrity 100. Swift was awarded the titles of Artist of the Decade as and Woman of the Decade. Swift is a vocal advocate for women's empowerment and rights for artists. Swift's music is often credited for inspiring a new generation of singer-songwriters.
